We encourage all phlebotomists to join their Representative Association.
We cannot be taken seriously as a Profession if we don't have a strong representative body.

Only with a strong membership can we achieve our aims for the year ahead and into the future.
If you are already a member, please encourage colleagues to joi

The new committee met in April to start the work for 2010 - 2011. We reviewed the past year,  which we feel was very productive for the Association. We are delighted to say that we met our main aims. We have a new set of aims for this year and look forward to another successful year.

I wish to take this opportunity to thank everyone on the committee for all their hard work last year.
It takes a lot of dedication to turn up every month for the meetings and undertake committee chores, as well as work commitments and family commitments, THANK YOU ALL.

AIMS FOR 2010-2011
1.Increase Our Membership
In order to remain the representative body for Plebotomists it is vital that we increase our membership.Committee members will endeavour in this coming year to visit as many Phlebotomy Departments as possible to discuss phlebotomy issues and concerns.
2.Education and Development of health and Social Care Professionals in the Health Services
In October 2009 PAI representatives were invited by the HSE to attend a forum on the education and developement of Health and Social Care Professionals in the health Services. This is a very strategic opportunity for PAI to profile the role of the phlebotomist in the modern health care system. To do this, PAI needs the support of Phlebotomists.this is the first time in the history of PAI that our association has been truely recognised by the HSE.Nora Joyce, senior Phlebotomist, Blackrock Clinic, is the PAI Rep for this forum.
3.National Guidelines

We  will continue to promote the newly revised National Guidelines, which we launched at the National Conference 2010.The Guidelines contain the most up to date information and international Best Practice in Phlebotomy. The Guidelines are available for download on the website. You may also contact us by email for a hard copy.
4.National Phlebotomy Training Programme
Currently the National Training Programme is being reviewed by a third level institution. The feedback from this group has been very positive.PAI hope be involved in disscusions with this group in the near future and we would hope the course will continue to develope and improve in this new setting.

Labs are Vital
PAI have joined the Irish Committee of Labs are Vital. This is a group which promotes the work of Laboritories in the Health Care System. It Is sponsored by Abbott Laboritories.
